Laila and Charles Gavatin's Foundation for Jazz Music
The aim of the Foundation is to support and encourage Swedish and international musicians who are striving to keep Jazz music a living art form.
This aim is to be carried out through the awarding of grants to such musicians in order that they may:
- Receive further education or educate others.
- Develop valuable knowledge by playing with other qualified musicians both in Sweden and abroad.
- Perform own music and have it distributed.
- Be given increased possibilities to compose and arrange Jazz music.
The Foundation can also make economic contributions towards activities and projects that are regarded as being to the furtherance of Jazz music.
The Foundation was established in 1989 and has so far awarded grants to the following:
